Alcohol and other drug information, support and case management are also available. Support can be provided to parents who do not have custody of their children. |

Provides specialist mental health support including the provision of a mental health component in client treatment plans. Comorbidity and mental health related groups, counselling, information and referrals are also provided. Staff are trained in basic mental health, there are Psychologists on staff and assessments include a mental health component. Workers are trained in motivational interviewing, interactive drawing therapy, narrative therapy, art therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy. Clients who have an existing Mental Health Worker from Mental Health ACT will continue under a joint case management model. |

Targeted interventions including play therapies, are included in the program as appropriate. Parents also take part in parenting programs and cognitive behavioural therapies (CBT), which seek to develop positive parent/child/family relationships. |

| Program/s: | Provides a voluntary program for adult males in the Alexander Maconochie Centre who have been affected by alcohol and drug use and related dependencies using the therapeutic community approach to treatment. The treatment program commences within 6-12 months prior to release from the Alexander Maconochie Centre. The Program provides the following levels:
Level One: Provides an intensive six month treatment program based on the therapeutic community model; participants are housed together within Alexander Maconochie Centre. Level Two: Provides a program of intensive throughcare to support transition and reintegration into the community, commencing during the treatment phase (continuing afterwards, if still in custody) and then continuing after release according to individual need.Provides intensive psychoeducation and group therapy sessions developing awareness of the impact of using alcohol and other drugs and the origins of addictive or compulsive behaviours, the thinking underlying criminal behaviour, identification of personal strengths and development of new skills to manage life well after release. The program also has a focus on relationships, families and financial skills. |
